Sweet Panettone French Toast

Ingredients
6 large eggs
1 1/2 cups milk (skim, whole or low fat)
1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 loaf Italian panettone, sliced 1 1/2 inches thick
Orange zest of one large orange
Butter (to grease griddle)
Maple syrup (optional)
Confectioner's sugar (optional)

Prep Time: 10 min., Cook Time: 12-15 min.
Directions

In a shallow dish, lightly whisk eggs, cinnamon, vanilla, milk and orange zest until well combined. Melt a tablespoon of butter on hot griddle over medium-high flame. Dip one slice of panettone in egg mixture coating both sides. Place it on the hot griddle and cook for 1-2 minutes per side or until golden brown. Repeat with all remaining slices and continue buttering the griddle if needed. Dress with maple syrup and confectioner’s sugar if you like! Enjoy!
