Classic and Comforting Fettuccine Alfredo with Bacon

Fettuccine Alfredo with Bacon
1/2 package (1 lb) fettuccine pasta
2 slices bacon, chopped
1 teaspoon garlic, minced
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 cup 1% low fat milk
2/3 cup grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese
Freshly ground black pepper
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
Cook Time: about 20 minutes

Cook pasta according to package directions. Reserve ¼ cup of pasta water for later. While the pasta cooks, add bacon to a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat until brown and crispy. Remove from the pan and place on a plate lined with paper towels. Add garlic to the pan and sauté for a minute, stirring constantly. Pour in flour and cook for 30 seconds, stirring constantly. Gradually add in milk, keeping a steady and quick stirring motion, for two minutes or until the mixture gets thick and bubbly. Reduce heat to low. Gradually add in the cheese until it melts, stirring constantly. Add salt, pepper and ¼ cup of reserved pasta water. Then, add the pasta to the mixture and combine thoroughly. Garnish the top with parsley
