Strawberry Banana Trifle-Great for a Summer Picnic!

 Strawberry Banana Trifle

Ingredients
1 cup sugar
¼ cup cornstarch
3 tablespoons strawberry gelatin powder
1 package (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
1 cup cold water
1 ¾ cups cold milk
1 pint fresh strawberries, sliced
3 bananas, sliced
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 cups heavy whipping cream, whipped (or Cool Whip)
6 cups angel food cake, cubed

Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Directions

In a sauté pan, combine sugar, cornstarch and gelatin. Then stir in the water until smooth. Bring this to a boil and stir for about 2 minutes until thick. Remove from heat. Stir in strawberries and set aside. In a large bowl, combine milk and pudding mix. Beat on low speed with a handheld mixer for 2 minutes and then set aside. In a separate bowl, coat the bananas in lemon juice. Drain the juice and set bananas aside. In a large trifle bowl or deep serving bowl, add about half of the angel food cubes. Spread a layer of pudding on top of the angel food. Then layer the bananas next, strawberry sauce and finally whipped cream.

Repeat the layers until you reach the top. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving. Reserve additional slices of strawberries and bananas for garnish. This recipe will wow your guests at any summer party!
